System Integrator

Full-Time Montreal, Canada
Canadian Railway Services

About the Job

As a System Integrator, you will ensure mechanical, electrical, and other applicable subsystems, assemblies, and interfaces are fully integrated across design, manufacturing, installation, testing, and commissioning phases.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will operate at the intersection of engineering, fabrication, quality, and commissioning to ensure systems are build-ready, compliant, functional, and ready for operation within complex engineered environments.

This role operates in a high-urgency, schedule-driven environment where integration issues must be identified early and resolved efficiently. You will play a hands-on role in execution, coordination, and system-level problem-solving.

You will also serve as the integration interface between CRWS Engineering and Morelli Industrial Design, ensuring industrial design intent is translated into clear engineering definitions, validated interfaces, envelope compliance, and installation sequencing, reducing downstream rework and non-conformities.

Key responsibilities
  • Integrate multiple subsystems into coherent, functional systems.

  • Validate interfaces between mechanical, electrical, controls, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems (as applicable).

  • Ensure designs are manufacturable, installable, and serviceable.

  • Support engineering reviews and system-level design validation.

  • Perform interface and build-readiness checks (mounting, clearances, routing, access, installation sequencing).

  • Raise integration risks and support mitigation planning.

  • Work closely with manufacturing and assembly teams to ensure correct interpretation of drawings and specifications.
  • Resolve integration issues arising during manufacturing and installation.

  • Support build readiness, installation planning, testing, commissioning, and system validation activities.
  • Identify root causes of integration issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Review and contribute to technical documentation (drawings, BOMs, procedures, as-built records).

  • Participate in change management, deviation reviews, and corrective action processes.

  • Act as an upstream quality checkpoint to reduce downstream rework and non-conformities.

  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, quality, and project teams to manage integration risks and constraints.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to system integration and execution.
Required qualifications
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in system integration, manufacturing engineering, or system assembly roles.
  • Experience working in complex engineered systems (rail, transportation, industrial equipment, manufacturing environments, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, assemblies, tolerances, and interfaces.
  • Understanding of electrical systems and electro-mechanical interfaces.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools and engineering documentation practices.
  • Hands-on experience supporting shop-floor execution, installation, and site activities.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

How You Work

  • You are practical, execution-focused, and hands-on.
  • You think in systems and anticipate integration issues.
  • You communicate clearly across engineering and operations teams.
  • You remain calm and effective under time pressure.
  • You take ownership of integration outcomes.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time (40 hours/week), Monday to Friday.
  • On-site presence required at the CRWS Montréal office.
  • Travel may be required depending on project scope and integration phases.
  • Occasional travel depending on project needs.

Why Join us?

  • Work at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and system integration.
  • Play a key role in reducing downstream issues through strong upstream execution.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and operations teams.
  • Join a growing organization with long-term opportunities in the rail industry.
