Financial Controller
About the Job
As Financial Controller, you will lead full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, audit coordination, and internal control development across our multi-entity structure.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will work closely with Executive Leadership, Project Managers, and Operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, disciplined project accounting, and strong governance practices.
This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, structured thinking, leadership capability, and prior experience operating within well-organized financial environments.
Key responsibilities

Oversee full-cycle accounting and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.

Prepare and review financial statements (ASPE / IFRS as applicable).

Lead external audit coordination and serve as primary liaison with auditors.

Oversee corporate income tax and indirect tax compliance (GST/HST, QST).

Ensure payroll tax compliance (T4, RL-1, source deductions).

Manage project-based accounting, job costing, and revenue recognition.
- Collaborate with Project Managers on WIP analysis and profitability tracking.

Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and documentation standards.

Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.

Supervise and mentor accounting team members.

Provide financial analysis and insight to support executive decision-making.
Required qualifications
- CPA designation (Canada), active and in good standing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
- 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Minimum 3 years of public accounting experience (audit or assurance preferred).
- Private sector experience is an asset.
- Experience in project-based, construction, engineering, or operational environments strongly preferred.
- Previous supervisory or team management experience is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of ASPE / IFRS.
- Advanced Excel proficiency.
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems.
- Strong oral and written proficiency in both French and English.
- Strong written French is considered a significant asset.

Working Conditions
- Full-time (40 hours/week), Monday to Friday.
- On-site presence at the CRWS Montréal office.
- Hybrid flexibility may be permitted after probation.
- Flexibility required during reporting cycles, audit periods, and tax deadlines.
- Occasional travel within Canada may be required.
