Business Systems Analyst

Full-Time Montreal, Canada
Canadian Railway Services

About the Role

As a Business Systems Analyst, you will work directly with the Director of Strategic Operations to build and improve the systems, processes, and data infrastructure that support CRWS’s growth.

This is a hands-on role focused on business systems, reporting, process improvement, and Zoho configuration. You will help develop operational tracking structures, build dashboards, support business intelligence initiatives, standardize processes, and contribute to strategic improvement projects across the organization.

We’re looking for someone who is analytical, proactive, and comfortable turning ideas into practical solutions in a fast-paced, growing environment.

Key responsibilities
  • Design and build the tracking structures CRWS is missing: timesheet work package codes, deal source tagging, rework tracking, and resource allocation data.
  • Build the underlying data models and fields in Zoho and other systems to support those tracking structures — not just report on data, but create the infrastructure that generates it
  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies across systems (e.g., QuickBooks, CRM, project tracking) to establish a single source of truth
  • Support the build-out of the resource capacity model and other metrics infrastructure identified in the operational audit
  • Extract, clean, and analyze data from Zoho, QuickBooks, and other CRWS systems to support KPI reporting and constraint diagnosis
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports (Power BI or equivalent) that give department heads and leadership visibility into their own performance data
  • Map current-state business processes across departments and document them in clear, standardized formats; maintain SOPs so critical knowledge lives in systems, not people’s heads
  • Configure and customize Zoho modules (CRM, Projects, Analytics, People, and related applications) to match CRWS’s mapped processes and reporting needs; build custom workflows and automations
  • Progressively take on configuration work currently handled by our external implementation partner, building in-house capability
  • Own execution of assigned workstreams from the Director’s operational roadmap from planning through delivery, and proactively flag risks or blockers
What We’re Looking For
  • Diploma or degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • 2–5 years of experience in a data analyst, business systems analyst, or business intelligence role, with demonstrated ownership of dashboards or reporting tools
  • Hands-on experience configuring or administering a CRM/ERP platform (Zoho, Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar) is a strong asset
  • Proficiency with Power BI or a comparable BI/visualization tool; strong Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, and data cleaning
  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets, databases, and system back-ends — a troubleshooting mindset rather than a pure IT/infrastructure background
  • Experience with process mapping tools (Lucidchart, Visio, or similar) is an asset
  • Zoho certifications or equivalent systems-configuration credentials are a strong asset, though not required

How You Work

  • You are analytical and detail-oriented — you spot inconsistencies in data and processes that others miss
  • You take initiative and work independently; you’re comfortable building something from a rough idea rather than executing a finished spec
  • You are highly organized and can manage multiple concurrent workstreams without dropping the ball
  • You are comfortable in an environment where systems and processes are still being designed — you contribute to the build, not just the execution
  • You communicate findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders, translating data into decisions

Working Conditions

  • Full-time (40 hours/week), Monday to Friday
  • On-site at CRWS Montréal HQ; regular in-person collaboration with the Director and department heads is expected
  • Fast-paced environment with shifting priorities across multiple concurrent projects; flexibility and follow-through are essential
  • Occasional travel to other CRWS group sites as required

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Group health and benefits plan
  • Paid vacation and personal days according to company policy
  • Zoho / systems certification support and professional development opportunities

Why Join us?

  • Be the person who builds the data and systems infrastructure CRWS runs on, not just reports on it — with real ownership from day one
  • Work directly with the Director of Strategic Operations on projects and infrastructure that affect every department in the company
  • Gain breadth across data analytics, business intelligence, process design, and CRM/ERP configuration in a single role
  • Grow with a company that is investing seriously in its operational infrastructure during a key growth phase
  • Build in-house capability that reduces reliance on outside consultants — real, visible impact on how the business runs
